The Taste: Tuesday at 8|7c on ABC (tv review)

Have you all watched this show? I watched the pilot, then DVR'd the rest and finally caught up this past weekend so I could watch last night's live. Influenster also teamed up with them to get more viewers and get some opinions on the show, so I thought I'd join in and let you all know what I thought :)

Hubs went to high school with one of the chefs, Sarah, which made watching it with him even more fun.  I like the show a lot, it's very fast paced and fun, and since I love cooking shows, it fits right in. It kind of reminds me of a combo of Chopped and Next Big Food Network Star which are my two favorites.  My biggest complaint is the lack of host.  Anthony Boudain kind of leads things along, but there's not as much explanation and such during each episode. Zack had never watched so he had no idea what was going on, or why random people weren't on the stage right before the stars happen etc. Things just kind of happen with no real explanation as to why .

It's a lot of fun to see the fast paced world of competition cooking, with the judges (all of whom are hilarious to watch) chiming in and helping out as they compete. I also LOVE that they don't know which dish is which, since it means they can potentially hate something thier team made, and I think makes it more fair overall.

Some of those chefs have serious ego and attitude problems though, with the arguing and the defensiveness. I get that this is something you created and love, but they are there to judge you, so stop being rude to them. Honestly.  I loved last night when the judges told Diane that she got to stay because she recognized her mistake and didn't argue with them. The girl who did argue (Mia)? Gonezo.

I was happy to see Shawn go last week since I didn't like his attitude, but I'm not loving Paul either. Something about him just rubs me the wrong way.

Overall, I like the show, and am sad there's only 3 episodes left this season. I hope they bring it back for sure. The judges/chefs are great, but with the addition of a host, this show would be top tier.
